We made this cake for Materials Conservation, a local historical preservation business that recently completed restoring the paint on the columns at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. They removed dozens and dozens of layers of paint to get down to the original color. It’s pretty amazing. The cake was to thank their team.

Here’s a close-up of the painted and piped building on the cake.

View of the side of the cake showing painted clouds and piped and painted greenery.

My palette of colors for the Monticello cake.
