We love the design that Kate & Brent chose for their four-tiered, 110-serving wedding cake. It incorporates a pink ombre effect, blanketed in textural fresh coconut and decorated with handmade sugar blooms accented with golden berries. The cake was made with two tiers of lemon pound cake filled with raspberry jam and passionfruit meringue buttercream, and two tiers made with vanilla-buttermilk cake filled with strawberry meringue buttercrem and strawberry preserves. The couple also served banana cake filled with caramel buttercream, and our funfetti cake filled with old-fashioned buttercream. SO many delicious options for guests to choose from!

After we put the cake in place, I took a bunch of pictures of the beautiful and eclectic warehouse space at 543 URBN, the home of Urban Outfitters in Philadelphia. The space that housed the couple’s cocktail hour and reception was full of rich texture, pattern and sculptural details. Nods to the venue’s shipping history and location in Philadelphia’s Navy Yard include a massive rusted chain and bright orange cable ropes. Pretty paper chandeliers, a bright floral mural, sheer printed draping and a handmade paper flower display complement all the industrial elements to create a really gorgeous space. There was something interesting to see at every turn. (When can I move in?)

Kate & Brent’s cool vintage-inspired wedding poster was displayed in the cocktail area. Kate herself arranged all the flowers you see in the mason jars. Perfection!

Clockwise from left: The wedding cake; a perfect pink peony; the reception seating; a detail of the cake flowers; a framed photo of the couple from their guest book table.

A mix of long tables and rounds in the seating area; calligraphy escort cards.

The detail pics above show more of the thoughtful details that went into Kate and Bren’s celebration. I’m loving the printed floral menu cards and coordinating table number signs that were named after different sections of Philly. There was even an interactive guest book complete with an array of Philadelphia postcards for each guest to write out a note and “post” to the newlyweds.

Sweet ceramic birds for Mr. and Mrs.; the couple’s seats at the reception, decked out with lush peonies, garden roses and blush ribbon.

Here’s our original concept sketch of the couple’s cake.
