Sweet Treats for Smoochie Paper

Whipped Bakeshop Cake for Smoochie Paper

Last night, we had the honor of catering desserts for our friends at Smoochie Paper, who were throwing a party to celebrate their three-year anniversary. Smoochie founder Patty Tawadros and her talented team create custom, luxury wedding invitations and everything else from save the dates to table numbers, signage, thank you cards, and more. They do amazing work!

We brought a unique crushed meringue cake, cute little vanilla/strawberry minis and some adorable macaron packages for their gift bags. People were really loving the look and flavor of the cake, which is a brand new Whipped Bakeshop design. It was so fun to meet all the amazing wedding vendors at the party who were there to help celebrate the anniversary.

The flowers you see in the photos below were from our new friends at Egan Rittenhouse

Congratulations Smoochie Paper!

Sewing-themed Cookies for Madalynne

Vintage Sewing-themed cookies

I first met Maddie Flanigan in early 2016 at a BHLDN press event where she was taking photographs—one of her many talents. She very kindly offered me some helpful styling tips for photography at Whipped Bakeshop, which I eagerly accepted. Shortly thereafter, I learned what an incredibly gifted entrepreneur and maker Maddie is.

Her company Madalynne is truly inspiring. Maddie makes and sells lingerie, and offers workshops and kits so that you can learn how to do the same. An exclusive line of Madalynne intimates was also launched through Urban Outfitters online and in retail stores in April 2016, which she cites as one of her biggest accomplishments.

I was really excited to team up with Maddie to make some extra-special cookies to celebrate her newest three patterns with Simplicity, as well as her "Let's Talk Bras" event with Brooklyn Craft Company on July 20. This is a free event, and it looks like there are still a few spots open (you still need to RSVP to attend). If I was in Brooklyn, I'd be there for sure - advice from experts, tasty nibbles, and a room full of inspiring people- YES please!

Concept Cake & Cookies: Undersea Wedding

Undersea wedding cake by Whipped Bakeshop

This past week, I was painting a watercolor postcard to send to my brother, and it started to take on an undersea vibe that I liked. Brennen said it might look good as a cake, so went ahead and made the 360-degree wedding cake you see here. It took a bit of trial and error to decide on the final look of the top and base tiers, but I like the finished result. Below, you can see the inspiration, other views of the cake, and some matching cookies that I painted. Hope you like it!

Meet our Newest Kawaii Cakes

Kawaii is the Japanese word for cuteness. We LOVE all things cute, so we have a blast designing and making our mini kawaii cakes. It's also fun writing up little descriptions of their personalities. We laugh and laugh!

Some of our mini cakes like Finn the Whale have been reproduced hundreds of times by bakers around the world (try searching for "whale cake" on Instagram). It's amazing!

Over the past few weeks, we've created five new kawaii cakes, and we are proud to introduce them to you now. Which one is your favorite?

Pineapple Kawaii Cake designed By Whipped Bakeshop

Say hello to Paulette the Pineapple! Paulette is an aspiring dental hygienist. She has an impressive swizzle stick collection and is currently planning a family reunion in her homeland of Hawaii.

Watermelon Kawaii Cake by Whipped Bakeshop

Meet Wanda the watermelon. Meet Wanda the Watermelon. Wanda loves sunflowers and throwing summertime BBQ parties. She's currently working on learning to do a pull-up, but is having a hard time due to her lack of arms. Wanda is a dreamer.

Wallace the watermelon loves sipping vodka, playing his harmonica and traveling the countryside collecting rare vinyl records. Wallace spends an inordinate amount of time grooming his tiny mustache.

Kiwi kawaii cake by Whipped Bakeshop

Clark the kiwi is a real go-getter. He works as a Philadelphia graphic designer. He enjoys mountain-biking and is a big fan of pocket squares.

Avacado Kawaii Cake by Whipped Bakeshop

Last but not least, please say hello to Ava the Avacado! Ava's favorite TV show is Project Runway, and she has a mad crush on Tim Gunn. Her best friend Paulette is currently teaching her how to canoe. She has a tough exterior, but Ava is a total softie on the inside.

Tutti Frutti First Birthday Party

1st Birthday Cake Table by Whipped Bakeshop in Philadelphia

This past week, we had so much fun making fruit-themed first birthday desserts for Jen, one of our long-time customers. As part of the display, we made a watermelon smash cake, our "Paulette the Pineapple" mini cake and a brand new "Clark the Kiwi" mini cake design.

Cookies included adorable orange and lime slices as well as fun hand-painted watermelon 1s. You can see closer looks at all of the treats below!

Here's what Jen had to say about how everything turned out:

"Thank you--everything was delicious and absolutely adorable! I am so happy with how it all turned out. You guys did our wedding cake and favors two years ago--and did a great job again on this. Thank you so much!!"
