It's probably understatement to say that I'm in love with Vault & Vine, a gorgeous new cafe and floral studio in East Falls, Philadelphia. Vault & Vine is an expansion and re-imagining of Falls Flowers, a long-time favorite floral shop. They have have delicious coffee and pastries, curated gifts and of course stunning plants available for purchase. On my first visit, I could not resist purchasing about 10 plants for my house and a birthday gift for a friend. Totally worth it. 

I was so inspired by Vault & Vine that I made them this succulent cake for their grand opening this past weekend. I think it fit in really well with the space.

Congratulations to owner Peicha Chang and her whole team on the amazing new cafe. If you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for? Head over there and binge on the amazingness!

Introducing Our First Vegan Cupcake

We are extra proud of our September Cupcake of the Month, because it's our very first 100% vegan cupcake! It's made with vegan vanilla cake, house-made strawberry jam and vegan peanutbutter icing. We added some peanuts on the top to add a little bit of crunch. We love the flavor, and we hope you will too!

Going forward, we'll be expanding our vegan options, and also adding some gluten-free options as well. It takes a lot of testing to make sure everything tastes amazing. It makes us happy to know that many more people will be able to enjoy our treats.

Whipped Bakeshop Now 100% Wind Powered

We are proud to annouce that we have partnered with Inspire Energy to switch to 100% renewable electricity here at Whipped Bakeshop. For a long time, we were wind-powered through a program called Peco Wind, but it was discontinued. After that it became difficult to find affordable renewable electricity (and to get out of our yucky fossil fuel contract). But it's all a breeze from here on out! 

We feel so good about saying goodbye to dirty electricity and saying hello to clean wind power! Thanks to our rep Dawson and the team at Inspire for finding a way to make renewable energy affordable and easy for small businesses. We are proud to partner with you.

Celebrating Mason Dixon Made

We've been friends and admirers of maker-extraordinaire Heather Holiday for what seems like ages now. As the founder of Mason Dixon Made, Heather's hand-crafted shoes and bags have steadily gained fame around Philadelphia and the world. Heather made me a Mercer Field Tote a while back and it's the only purse I use. It's hard to believe that Mason Dixon is only two years old. Incredible! 

Heather celebrated Mason Dixon's 2nd anniversary last week at Martha Kensington restaurant in Fishtown. We were delighted to bring a cake and some cupcakes for the party. Congratulations Heather! You are a superhero mom, maker and business woman. We are proud to know you!

French Garden-Inspired Wedding Shoot at Ridgeland Mansion

When Nicole of Rabbit Rabbit Crew contacted us about being a part of their French Garden-inspired wedding shoot, we were all in. Zoë designed a rustic iced buttercream cake with an extra-tall base tier and mini cakes that incorporated a detailed tile pattern and gold leaf on the top. The main cake was adorned with jewel tone, gold-edged dried pears. The cakes had a balance of rustic and chic that we think worked perfectly in the lush outdoor setting of Ridgeland Mansion.
