Couples getting married in Philadelphia often want to know how far in advance they should order their wedding cake. There’s no hard and fast rule, but we can give you some pointers. Sought-after Philadelphia bakeries like Whipped Bakeshop generally start to book up for popular wedding dates (Weekends in September, October, May & June) about 3-6 months in advance. This is because Philly wedding bakeries tend to be pretty small and artisan (in the best possible way) so we have to limit the number of wedding cakes we can produce for a given date. This is good, because it means you and your cake will get a lot of attention, but it also means that you’ll want to get your order in before it’s too late.
With all of that said, we recommend getting the wedding cake process started 6-9 months before your wedding date, and that means scheduling your Ultra-Magical Cake Tasting. If you’re anxious to get your cake ordered, you can do it sooner, but we recommend having your planner, venue and florist selected before you book your cake, especially if you’re considering fresh flowers. This helps us get everything coordinated for your special day!
