This week, we made some fancy Academy Awards cookies for our friends over at Saks Fifth Avenue. Because the shape of the statue would be a bit too fragile for a cookie, I piped the statue silhouettes onto parchment paper first. Then I hand-painted each one gold and added a touch of edible glitter. The next step was to fill an elegantly shaped cookie with black royal icing, and drop an Oscar into each one to dry. Voila! A glittery and dramatic cookie befitting the awards ceremony!

If you look closely, you can see that each figure is iced a little differently. This was purposeful, as I like that you can see they are made by hand, and I felt it mimicked the reflective nature of the metallic statuette.

Here’s the cookie all wrapped up and ready to be presented to a lucky person at Saks. Isn’t he handsome?
